I've spent quite a while today reading up on this weekend's NFL draft -- and how Georgia's players look like they'll fare. Of course, there's a pretty wide variance on who'll end up where, depending on who you ask. Of the sites/publications I read today, I found NFLdraftscout.com and the Scouts Inc. analysis to be the most useful. Although I'll probably use it in a story I'm doing for Wednesday's paper, the draft stuff from the issue of The Sporting News that arrived in my mailbox today was probably the least useful of the three. Although if you're Charles Johnson, you're hoping TSN was correct because they have him going No. 19 to the Tennessee Titans. Most everything else I've read has him going to the Falcons at No. 44.
Here's some of the stuff I came across today:
* The Sporting News had five UGA guys going in its seven-round mock draft in that issue:
19. Johnson, Tennessee (first round); 100. Milner, Oakland (fourth); 113. Moses, Jacksonville (fourth); 212. Taylor, Dallas (seventh); 221. Ware, Chicago (seventh).
* Of the 327 players TSN ranked, eight of them were from Georgia:
19. Johnson; 84. Moses; 138. Milner; 193. Taylor; 200. Ware; 302. Jackson; 313. Battle; 321. Ely-Kelso
* Scouts Inc's Todd McShay posted the first three rounds of a mock draft today and had Johnson going No. 44 to Atlanta and Moses going 72nd (third round) to Minnesota.
* Scouts Inc. has five Georgia guys ranked in its top 300 prospects:
52. Johnson, 61. Moses, 91. Milner, 147. Taylor, 264. Shackleford
* Position ranks: Ely-Kelso (No. 12 punter); Battle (32 safety); Taylor (13 OLB); Jackson (24 OLB); Johnson (9 DE); Moses (10 DE); Gant (42 DT); Jones (17 center); Tereshinski (45 QB); Ware (26 RB); Milner (5 TE); Shackleford (23 OT); Inman (29 OT)
* I'm not saying this is correct, but here's what it looks like you can generally expect from the draft Saturday and Sunday. This is just from the stuff I've read. I'm certainly not Mel Kiper and I don't have any clue who'll end up where:
First-second round: Charles Johnson
Second-fourth round: Quentin Moses
Third-fifth round: Martrez Milner
Fourth-sixth round: Tony Taylor
Fifth-seventh round: Danny Ware
Later rounds or free agency: Ken Shackleford, Jarvis Jackson, Tra Battle, Ray Gant, Nick Jones, Dan Inman, Gordon Ely-Kelso, Danny Verdun Wheeler, Mario Raley, Michael Turner
If you want to keep up with where everybody goes this weekend, the official Georgia site has a headquarters for you to check out here. If I'm able and am around the computer, I'm going to try to put them up here when they come off the board.

David, did you intentionally leave Inman off of your predicted "later rounds/free agency" list. Just curious.
No, that was accidental. I'll go back and add him in.
Just my humble opinion, but if Charles Johnson was still available at 44 it would be great thing for the Falcons. And then they would pick someone we'll never hear about in a year instead.
No way in hell the Falcons will take Johnson. He would certainly be the best pick to fit their needs if he is staill available for their 2nd round pick. But history shows that the Falcons won't draft UGA players, for some stupid reason.
PWD seems to think that the new bosses over there are warming up to the idea of drafting dawgs. I hope he's right.
I would love to see Charles play in Atlanta, but I'm not holding my breath.
It's probable that I should have put Danny Ware in the later rounds/free agency group as well. The draft analyst I spoke with and the stuff I've read seem to indicate he'll wind up a free agent signee, but I have a feeling someone's going to pick him.
