Coach Richt and about 30 of the players are scheduled to appear Saturday at HERO for Children's "Hero for a Day" event on Saturday. That's basically a field day event that about 700 people are expected to attend that provides a day of fun for approximately 200 Georgia kids who are affected by HIV/AIDS. There'll be games and events for the kids and a talent show at the end. Sounds like a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon if you've got the time. In addition to coach Richt and the football players, a couple of Miss Georgia winners and some Atlanta TV personalities are also scheduled to appear.
The event will be held from 2-5 at Westminster High School (go to the back gate entrance), 1550 West Wesley Rd. Atlanta, GA 30327
The public is welcome to come and cheer on the kids, although they encourage you to volunteer for the day if you have the time. I'm not sure if it's too late to volunteer, but you can get plenty of information at the HERO for Children Web site or by e-mailing volunteer@heroforchildren.org
